Bharat's Supreme Devotion
Bharat Kund at Nandigram, 18 km south of Ayodhya, is where Bharat, Lord Rama's devoted brother, installed Rama's sacred Padukas (sandals) on the throne and ruled as regent for 14 years. Bharat lived in austerity, refusing all royal comforts until Rama's return.
The kund and surrounding area embody the highest ideal of brotherly love and selfless devotion. Darshan of Nandigram is said to equal the merit of a thousand Manvantaras of residing in Kashi.
